Whole-Site TLS 1.2 HTTPS

We respect and value your privacy and security

Data delivered over an unencrypted channel is insecure, untrustworthy, and easily intercepted. At Adaptelec, we believe we owe it to our visitors and customers to protect the security, privacy, and integrity of your data by all means available.

To that end, in accordance with initiatives being spearheaded by Google, major tech companies, the internet's standards bodies, and the internet community at large, we have secured all areas of our web site via TLS 1.2 (formerly known as SSL) encryption. Not just areas where you submit information, but every single page. Using private connections by default makes everyone safer, and we believe that HTTPS should be the baseline for all web traffic.

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is the successor to Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and is the current gold standard for providing the strongest possible communications security over computer networks. Web applications use the TLS protocol to communicate across networks in a way designed to prevent eavesdropping and tampering. When secured via TLS, communications between a web browser and a web server (e.g. adaptelec.com) are....

  • Private, because symmetric cryptography is used to encrypt the data transmitted
  • Authenticated, because the identity of the communicating parties is verified using public-key cryptography
  • Trustworthy, because all data transmitted includes a message integrity check to prevent unauthorized alteration

What all this means is that we have taken every possible measure to ensure that even just visiting our site, let alone submitting information and placing an order, is as private and secure as possible. We take electricity seriously, and we take your privacy and security seriously. You deserve no less.

PCI-DSS Compliant

Your credit card data is not only secure, it's invisible

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is an information security standard for organizations that handle credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. The PCI Standard is mandated by the card brands and administered by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. The standard was created to increase controls around cardholder data to reduce credit card fraud.

All payments at Adaptelec are processed securely via a TLS 1.2 encrypted connection by Stripe. Stripe has been audited by an independent PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) and is certified as a PCI Level 1 Service Provider. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. None of Stripe’s internal servers are able to obtain plain text card numbers. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and doesn’t share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services.

As for us folks here at Adaptelec? We are a paperless, web-to-warehouse operation, and we strictly and deliberately choose that no human ever has any access at all to any of your credit card data. Ever. For any reason. Not even the last four digits. We don't do phone orders. We don't do fax orders. We don't even have a manual credit card terminal at the warehouse. We want your business, but we'll turn it down if it requires writing down your credit card data, or taking it over the phone. That's how seriously we take the security of your credit card data.

We don't even have the ability to add extra charges to a previously-placed order. Let's say you order something from us, and 15 minutes later, you decide you actually need two of them. You email us to ask us to change the order from qty: 1 to qty: 2. Apologies for the inconvenience, but we can't do that on our end, because nobody here has the ability to add any further charges to your card. Ever. Unfortunately, we'll have to ask you to place a second order.

What we can do, of course, is issue a credit or refund to your card. So if you want us to ship something on your UPS or FedEx account, we can refund the shipping charges. Or if you ordered two of something, and want to change it to one, we can do that. We can always give you your money back, which doesn't require us to have access to your credit card data.

No spam. Ever.

No spam. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.

We've been in business since 2005, and not once have we ever sent out a marketing email of any kind, "opt-in" or otherwise. No sale notifications, no pleas to write a review of what you just bought, no "Thanks for visiting, but you forgot to buy something" or "Please like us on social media" type foolishness. We don't have time for that kind of nonsense.

Not only is it obnoxious, it's counterproductive. We get it. You're here because you need something, not because you want something. And we know that you're not going to be persuaded to buy something just because it's "NEW!!!" or "HOT!!!" or whatever. That's just not the kind of business we're in, and we know that. When you need us, you'll find us. In the meantime, no good could possibly come of pestering you.

If you receive an email from a member of our staff, you can be absolutely sure the email was typed out personally, and directly relates to an order you've placed, or an email inquiry you've sent to us. Nothing more and nothing less. Ever.

With that in mind though, surely you understand and are okay with the fact that when you order something from us, our system is going to try to send you an order confirmation email. It will also try to send you a notification when your order goes from "Processing" to "Shipped" status. When processing your shipment with UPS or FedEx or USPS, we ask them to send you a tracking email. All these emails are automatically generated by computers, and therefore may be treated as "spam" by your ISP's email servers or your email client. And, unfortunately, there's not much we can do about that.

But there's something you can do about it. If you care at all about receiving updates on the status of your order, or receiving a reply to a question you've asked us, please consider "whitelisting" emails from adaptelec.com by whatever means your particular setup requires.

We're real people over here, and we just want to help. Cross our hearts, as soon as you're received your order, or as soon as we've answered any and all questions you might have for us, we'll leave you alone. Promise.

No selling of customer information. Ever.

We will never sell your personal information. To anyone. For any amount of money. Ever.

Oh sure, we use Google Analytics. Because of course we do. Who doesn't? But that's all anonymous, numbers-based stuff.

We're also super into credit card fraud prevention, and any information you provide to us will be made available to the people who help us screen for that kind of thing. (They're really good at what they do.)

We also fully comply with all local, state and federal laws. So if the authorities were to ever show us a warrant for some reason, we'll give them whatever they ask for.

And of course we have to share your name, address, phone number, and email address with UPS/FedEx/USPS to get your order delivered.

But your personal information has never been, is not currently, and will never be for sale. Ever. Not to anyone, for any purpose, for any amount of money.
