Domestic and APO / FPO / DPO Shipping

Shipping Information

When will my order ship?

Please allow one business day (weekday) for your order to ship. When possible, we do everything we can to ship orders the same day they're placed. But the shipping carriers make their daily pickups from our location fairly early in the day, and the exact time tends to fluctuate. If you're on the west coast, chances are that we're getting our daily pickup as you're drinking your morning coffee. Please assume that your order will ship the next weekday after you place the order. If it is possible to ship your order the same day, we will. Sooner is always better, right?

Some items ship directly from manufacturers' facilities around the country. Those items are subject to the manufacturers' own shipping policies and procedures, and are not under our direct control. Unless a "lead time to ship" is stated on the item's page on our site, you can expect those items to ship the following weekday as well. Some of these facilities are UPS-only or FedEx-only. We may need to change the shipping method to something other than what you selected at checkout if your order is shipping from one of these alternate facilities. (If we do have to do that, you will not be charged any extra. We'll pick up the difference, if necessary.)

Orders that contain a mix of items shipping from different locations, of course, will arrive in multiple packages, and may not all arrive at exactly the same time. Some items are built to order, and/or require customization (e.g. the installation of a specific type of power cord) before they ship. An estimated "lead time to ship" will appear on the item's page.

Shipping Information

When can I expect to receive my order?

To accurately estimate the total turnaround time from order to delivery, please be sure to take the following factors into account:

  • Orders usually ship the next business day after the order is placed (e.g. Friday orders ship Monday)
  • Any additional lead time which may be required for custom configuration options (notice will appear on the item's page)
  • Time-in-transit for your chosen carrier and service (listed on the shopping cart page, and again during checkout)
  • Remember that times-in-transit are business days only, weekends and holidays are excluded

With all that in mind, please know that we want to get your items to you as quickly as possible, and we'll do whatever we can to make that happen. If it's at all possible to get your order shipped out same-day, we will. If an alternate shipping facility is closer to your location geographically, we'll ship it from that facility in an effort to get it to you more quickly. If changing the shipping carrier or service will get it to you more quickly, we'll do that. We operate on the principle that "Sooner is always better."

If your order is particularly time-sensitive, then by all means feel free to shoot an email to before you place your order. We'll look into it and let you know what, if anything, we can do to meet your delivery deadline.

If you're pretty sure it'll be fine, but still just want to mention it just in case, you can always leave us a note in the Special Instructions field during checkout and specify a delivery deadline. If there's any potential issue with meeting that deadline, we'll email you to let you know, and to ask you how you'd like us to proceed. (So please be sure that you can receive our email and that your system won't zap them as "spam" or anything.)

Other things to consider, if you think your order should have arrived by now, but you haven't received it yet:

  • Small orders shipped via USPS usually fit into mailboxes, and the mail carrier will usually leave it there with your regular mail. So if you don't visit your mailbox daily, check there.
  • If others at your location sometimes retrieve the mail, check with them. Small orders (for example, just a couple of adapters) will usually be packaged in a 6x10" yellow padded envelope.
  • If you're in an apartment complex, check with the leasing office. UPS or FedEx may have left it there, or the mail carrier may have placed it in the wrong mailbox.
  • If your package was delivered to a business, check with the front desk, receptionist, or mailroom.

Shipping Rates

How much will it cost to ship my order?

Well, that depends on what you order, where it's going, and which carrier and service you choose during checkout.

You can check by adding whatever you're thinking of ordering to the shopping cart. No obligation, of course. There's a shipping estimator on the shopping cart page. Select your destination country and ZIP/postal code, then click the "Update" button.

Our site will connect to each of the shipping carriers' rate servers, and retrieve their estimates in real time. All available shipping options will then be shown to you, based on your general destination, and the weight and/or dimensions of whatever's currently in the shopping cart. Keep in mind that these estimates are for reference only. They're usually 100% accurate, but they're based on very general destination information (just the ZIP/postal code) and may change slightly once the full specific destination address is provided.

Once you proceed to checkout and enter your specific destination address, our site will show you all available shipping options and their costs once again, and this is when you'll actually select your preferred carrier and service.

Some other factors to keep in mind with regard to shipping services and their costs:

  • Most orders ship via USPS, FedEx and UPS. Costs shown are retrieved directly from the carriers in real time, and are based on their own published rates at the time.
  • When items in an order are shipping separately from multiple origin facilities, that's factored into the shipping rates shown, and may increase the total shipping cost.
  • Carriers base their rates on a minimum of one pound. With small items like plug adapters, the shipping cost is going to be the same whether you're ordering one or ten.
  • Sometimes the size of a shipment will supersede the weight of the shipment, and the shipping cost will be based on the shipment's physical dimensions, as opposed to its weight.

If you're placing a huge order (for example, 20 voltage transformers) it may make more sense to ship them on a pallet via an over-the-road trucking company, as opposed to a small parcel carrier like UPS or FedEx. The shipping cost should be far lower than the UPS/FedEx rates shown by our web site. By all means, feel free to shoot an email to before you place your order, and we'll look into it. (Let us know if there's a loading dock at your location. That'll reduce the shipping cost even more.) We can set up a special shipping situation for your order by way of a promo code, or something like that, so that the total will be accurate when you place your order.

APO/FPO/DPO Military Mail Shipping

Yes! Of course we ship to APO, FPO and DPO addresses via USPS/Military Mail!

Proudly, and just about every day. Happy to do it.

Surely you're already aware of this, but we do need to point out that once the shipment is in the MPS system, package tracking is no longer available on our end. Nor are there any guarantees about how long it'll take for the package to reach the destination. And because manufacturers typically don't ship to APO/FPO/DPO addresses directly, depending on what you order, we may need to have the item(s) shipped from the factory to our warehouse first, then turn the shipment around to you, and that might take a few days. So expect a little lead time to ship.

But hey, that's all just part of the deal, and you're probably already familiar with all these caveats. If you use a domestic forwarding company, we're happy to ship there as well.

We also have extensive experience processing Diplomatic Pouch shipments to US State Department Foreign Service missions, including US Embassies and Consulates abroad. Our products are currently being used in 17 US embassies on 4 continents. We can ship to the A/LM warehouse in Dulles, VA (Washington, DC) or the Despatch Agencies in New York, Miami and Seattle.

We take great care in fully adhering to all Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM) directives for Diplomatic Pouch shipments (14 FAM 720) and Consolidated Receiving Point (CRP) shipments (14 FAM 310) as well as USPS and MPS policies and procedures for shipments to DPO addresses. We have never had a DPM or CRP shipment rejected for any reason. Any order received from a server is immediately prioritized and expedited.
