ALL PERSONAL DATA ENCRYPTED AND SECURE

All areas of Adaptelec.com where personal, confidential information may be collected, manipulated or displayed are secured via "High-grade" AES-256 256 bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption. These include all checkout areas, login screens, account-related areas where names, addresses and order data are viewed, etc. Encryption makes it all but impossible for unauthorized parties to view the information as it travels between computers.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology is the industry-standard method for protecting Web communications. The SSL security protocol provides data encryption, server authentication, message integrity and client authentication for a TCP/IP connection. Each transaction at this site is sent to the payment processing servers via a dedicated SSL TCP/IP level communication thread.

Our site's identity, as well as all critical data about our organization have been verified by Starfield Technologies, which is an authorized Certificate Authority (i.e. an established, trusted third party) recognized by your web browser as legitimate. They, in turn, are vouching for our legitimacy.

When you place an order on our web site, your credit card information is collected on an SSL-secured page. When your order is finalized, your credit card data is sent over an encrypted connection to our payment processor for a fraction of one second. This is how all credit card transactions are ultimately processed, even if you physically give your card to someone in person at a store. Your credit card data is "on the network", fully encrypted and secured, for the blink of an eye, and then it's gone. Your credit card info is never written down, and in fact, we never even see it. The transaction is handled between your bank and ours. The only part of it we ever see are the last four digits, which we store for your reference in case you ever need to know what credit card account you used to place an order. Banks, of course, do store credit card information. But they by law must undergo the most rigorous security audits the world has ever known on a regular basis. And they do not release that information except where required by law.


"COOKIES"

Our site uses "cookies" in order to anonymously keep our site's visitors separate by way of a "session ID." A cookie is a small file that contains a string of numbers that uniquely identifies your computer to ours, allowing our site to distinguish your web browser from another visitor's web browser. This enables our site to know for example that you have widget A in your cart, whereas another person's web browser has widget B in his or her cart. This simple string of numbers is known as a "session ID". WE NEVER STORE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS, PHYSICAL ADDRESS, CREDIT CARD NUMBER OR ANY OTHER SENSITIVE INFORMATION IN A COOKIE.


INFORMATION SHARING

WE ARE NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF SELLING OUR CUSTOMERS' INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES.

WE HAVE NEVER SOLD OR SHARED ANY PERSONALLY-IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION WITH ANY THIRD PARTY WHO WAS NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED IN THE PROCESSING AND/OR DELIVERY OF AN ORDER (i.e. shipping carriers).

In order to fulfill your order, we must share certain information with third parties, including but not limited to, the United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service (UPS), Federal Express, local courier services and our credit card payment processing service.

We may, at our discretion, provide anonymous demographics information to third parties for analysis.

As we continue to develop our business, we might buy or sell stores or assets. In such transactions, customer information generally is one of the transferred business assets. Also, in the unlikely event that our company or substantially all of its assets are acquired, customer information will of course be one of the transferred assets.

We will release information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with law and to protect the rights, property and safety of our company and/or our customers. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
UNSOLICITED MASS COMMERCIAL EMAIL ("SPAM")

Our business operates in accordance with the US CAN-SPAM Law in effect 01/01/2004.

We DO NOT employ the use of unsolicited mass commercial email ("spam") for any purpose, nor do we provide any other company any assistance whatsoever in their efforts to spam. Ever. Under any circumstances.
We hate it as much as you do, and we get a lot of it ourselves. If you receive an email from a member of our staff, you can be sure the email was typed out personally and directly relates to an order you have placed or an email inquiry you have sent to us.

We do maintain an opt-in mailing list so that we may notify INTERESTED (and only interested) customers of sales, specials, new items and the like. Customers are NEVER opted-in by default, and must physically toggle a checkbox which is not checked by default in order to opt-in. We send maybe one email per month, sometimes not even that. We absolutely do not barrage our customers with daily junk. Furthermore, we respect any customer's wish to opt-out at any time. If you leave the checkbox unchecked, or if you use the opt-out link in one of our emails, you absolutely, positively will not receive any emails from us that are not directly related to and order you've placed or a question you've asked us.

It is very important to be absolutely sure that you can receive emails from us.
When a backorder happens, or if there are any other issues impacting your order, we will attempt to contact you via email to offer options and ask you how you would like us to proceed. We will make every effort to come up with a solution that does not delay your shipment. But if we cannot contact you, it ties our hands. We either have to make assumptions about what you would prefer, or even cancel your order.

With the widespread use of anti-spam email filtering, which quite often doesn't work very well, legitimate emails often end up in spam folders or deleted altogether. The order confirmation emails sent by our site are auto-generated. Tracking emails from shipping carriers are auto-generated as well. Spam filters don't like auto-generated emails and often assume that these emails are spam. If you do not receive an order confirmation email almost immediately after completing your order, then it is very likely that we will not be able to contact you via email if there is an issue impacting your order.
